Meghan Trainor Taps Into Biohacking for Dramatic Transformation, Cites "Science" as Her Secret

Pop sensation Meghan Trainor is attributing her recent significant physical transformation to the power of "science" and a deep dive into biohacking techniques. Speaking at the 2025 Billboard Women in Music event, the "All About That Bass" singer revealed she's actively working to "biohack" her body, moving beyond traditional diet and exercise to optimize her health and even "age backward."

After months of public speculation regarding her noticeable weight loss, Trainor shared that a newfound understanding of her body's internal workings has been key. "Science is the secret. I love it," she told Entertainment Tonight. "I learned a lot of tricks that I had no idea [about]. I was working out so incorrectly wrong for so long. I was running and doing cardio and my body was inflamed, always."

This shift in approach is a hallmark of biohacking, which involves making systematic changes to lifestyle, diet, and environment to improve physical and mental performance. For Trainor, this meant re-evaluating her fitness routine to reduce inflammation and more effectively achieve her goals.

"I'm trying to biohack my body," she elaborated. "So anything that'll help me age backward, I’m into it."

One specific biohacking tool Trainor mentioned is her recent exploration of NAD supplements. "I just learned about the NADs [supplements]. I was like, ‘Make me Hailey Bieber. I'll do it. I'll take it’ … I’m trying all the things. I love a doctor explaining stuff to me."

NAD, or nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, is a critical coenzyme found in every cell of the body. As advanced nurse practitioner Emma Wedgwood explained to GQ last year, NAD "helps keep our cells functioning properly" and "plays an essential role in energy production by converting the food we eat into the fuel our cells need." Wedgwood further noted, "NAD comes in two forms, NAD+ and NADH, both working together to ensure that our bodies have the energy they need to perform vital functions. Beyond energy, NAD also supports processes like DNA repair and immune health."

A key focus in anti-aging and wellness research, NAD+ levels naturally decline with age, potentially impacting energy and cellular regeneration. Supplementation is a popular biohacking strategy aimed at counteracting this decline and supporting overall vitality.

While some fans had questioned if weight-loss drugs like Ozempic were involved in her transformation, Trainor's emphasis is squarely on these scientifically-informed biohacking strategies.

This isn't the first time Trainor has been open about her health journey. The mother of two previously lost 60 pounds after the birth of her first son, a process she described as challenging but rewarding. "I was my heaviest I've ever been... I just wasn't feeling great," she recounted to ET Canada in 2022. Through dedication, she "learned that I do like healthy food and I learned what portions mean. And I learned my brain is so happy when I exercise."

Her current embrace of biohacking appears to be an evolution of this commitment, leveraging cutting-edge science and a proactive approach to not just lose weight, but to enhance her overall well-being and cellular health. Trainor's journey highlights a growing trend among public figures and health enthusiasts alike: looking beyond conventional methods and utilizing biohacking to unlock new levels of physical and mental optimization.
